The second quarterly report of Internet Threat Trends has been published by Commtouch.
The report summarizes the second quarter of 2010 by presenting main digital threats that menace all Internet users.
The highlights of the report are:
- Spam levels diminished slightly in comparison to the first quarter, targeting 179 billion daily spam messages. The general spam average was 82% of all email traffic, reaching almost 92% near the end of June and bottoming out at 71% at the beginning of May.
- India surpassed Brazil as the epicenter of zombie production (13% of the world’s total)
- TDSS.17 was the most commonly dispersed email-borne virus, but Mal/Bredo still remains the one with the largest number of variants (1,800) - almost double the variants in comparison with the first quarter.
- ‘Pornography’ remained the Web site category most compromised with malware.
